Business professor pens book supporting Ron Paul for president
Walter Block, Ph.D., the Harold E. Wirth Eminent Scholar Endowed Chair in Economics at Loyola University New Orleans, recently published his 11th book, "Ron Paul for President in 2012: Yes to Ron Paul and Liberty," which supports Paul's ongoing race for the White House.
School of Mass Communication alumna wins Peabody Award
Loyola University New Orleans School of Mass Communication alumna and CNN associate producer Jessica Dunne '08, was recently awarded a prestigious Peabody Award for her part in the CNN news coverage of the Arab Spring demonstrations, which began in December 2010 and have since spread across the Middle East. The Peabody Award is one of broadcasting's premier honors, recognizing excellence, distinguished achievement and meritorious public service in the field of journalism.
Loyola Institute for Ministry holds webinar on Eucharistic adoration
The Loyola Institute for Ministry is hosting the free webinar, "Eucharist and Adoration," which will focus on how Eucharistic adoration has become an increasingly important part of Catholic spirituality, on Tuesday, June 4 at 8 p.m. The webinar, presented by institute director Tom Ryan, Ph.D., is timed to precede the Feast of Corpus Christi on June 10.
Director to screen documentary on race in America at Loyola
The Gillis Long Poverty Law Center in the Loyola University New Orleans College of Law presents a screening and discussion of the documentary, "The Presumption of Guilt," on Sunday, June 10 at 6 p.m. in the College of Law, Room 308. It is free, open to the public and co-sponsored by Citizens United for Economic Equity and the Irvin Mayfield Foundation.
Preparatory ballet program features renowned guest artist from Bolshoi Ballet
Irina Vassileni-Uralsky, a graduate of the acclaimed Bolshoi Ballet Academy in Moscow, Russia and former dancer with the world-renowned Bolshoi Ballet, will teach an intensive ballet course for advanced level students ages 13 and up in the Loyola Preparatory Ballet Program, June 4-22 at Loyola University New Orleans.
Billboard magazine names law alumnus to its power list
Loyola University New Orleans College of Law alumnus Richard S. Busch, J.D. '90, a partner in the litigation section of King and Ballow in Nashville, Tenn., was named to Billboard Magazine's 2012 Power 100 list of the most influential people in the music business.
Alumni relive their Loyola experience this summer

Elia Diaz-Yaeger, J.D. '94, a shareholder with Lugenbuhl, Wheaton, Peck, Rankin and Hubbard in New Orleans, was elected president of the Hispanic Lawyers Association of Louisiana for 2013.
Riders wanted for Krewe of Tucks
As part of the Loyola University New Orleans ongoing centennial celebration, the Krewe of Tucks is looking for Loyola alumni, faculty, staff or students to fill 20 spots in Loyola's centennial float in the 2013 Krewe of Tucks Mardi Gras Parade on Feb. 9, 2013.
