Chart-topping recording sensations make US debut at Loyola
In celebration of Loyola University New Orleans' centennial, the Montage Fine and Performing Arts Series is proud to present the United States debut of the chart-topping recording sensations, The Priests, along with special guest vocalist Sarah Jane McMahon '02.
Uriel Quesada named an American Council on Education Fellow
Uriel Quesada, Ph.D., director of the Center for Latin American and Caribbean Studies at Loyola University New Orleans, has been selected to be an American Council on Education Fellow for the 2012-13 academic year.
English professor receives prestigious career enhancement fellowship
Trimiko Melancon, Ph.D., assistant professor of English and faculty in African and African-American Studies at Loyola University New Orleans, was recently awarded a prestigious career enhancement fellowship by the Woodrow Wilson National Fellowship Foundation.
Student advertising team gets high marks in national competition
The Loyola University New Orleans student-created advertising team, Rebirth Advertising, placed fourth in their region in the American Advertising Federation's annual national student competition for their campaign, "Meet Your Match," produced for Nissan Americas.
Student theatre cast featured in peer-reviewed drama journal
After a successful collaboration on "The Ascension" at a medieval dramatic festival in 2010, a performance by a student theatre cast from Loyola University New Orleans was recently selected as one of only three Chester Cycle plays reviewed in a recent edition of Early Theatre, a peer-reviewed journal.
Mass Communication professor takes 'Courtroom Carnival' to Jazz Fest
S.L. Alexander, Ph.D., associate professor of mass communication, will have a book signing at the New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival on May 4, 3-4 p.m. in the book tent. "Courtroom Carnival: Famous New Orleans Trials," which was released last year to positive reviews, chronicles several colorful courtroom clashes involving Louisiana's political and civic elite whose trials and tribulations captured widespread public attention.

Montage Series pays tribute to founder of music preparatory program
The Montage Fine and Performing Arts Series at Loyola University New Orleans presents a "Remembrance and Tribute Concert" in honor of Janet Swanzy, Ph.D., founder and director of the Loyola Preparatory Department of Music and Dance, on Sunday, April 22 at 3 p.m. in Louis J. Roussel Performance Hall.
Loyola student band competes for spot at Hard Rock international music festival in London
Liquid Peace Revolution, a rock band of three Loyola University New Orleans freshmen and two former students, recently won the local round of Hard Rock Rising, an international battle of the bands at the Hard Rock Cafe New Orleans in March. The quintet must now compete for a spot on the bill at the 2012 Hard Rock Calling music festival in London's Hyde Park, featuring headlining performances by legendary musicians Soundgarden, Bruce Springsteen and Paul Simon.
Loyola to host Heartland Delta board meeting
Forty representatives, including four Jesuit provincials and six Jesuit university presidents from 12 Jesuit universities and colleges, will travel to Loyola University New Orleans on April 22 - 23 for the annual Heartland Delta board meeting. University President Kevin Wm. Wildes, S.J., Ph.D., will host the conference.
Loyola Ballet celebrates National Dance Week with performances, Russian masterpiece
The Loyola Ballet celebrates National Dance Week and Loyola University New Orleans' centennial with a mixed repertory program on Saturday, April 28 at 8 p.m. and Sunday, April 29 at 3 p.m., in Louis J. Roussel Performance Hall, located in the Communications/Music Complex, on Loyola's main campus. The performances, directed by Laura Zambrano, include classical, contemporary and character works.
Loyola symphony orchestra and jazz band perform this weekend
The Montage Fine and Performing Arts Series at Loyola University New Orleans features the Loyola Symphony Orchestra and the Loyola Jazz Band in two free performances this weekend in Louis J. Roussel Performance Hall, located in the Communications/Music Complex, on the corner of St. Charles Avenue and Calhoun Street.

Spring Yamauchi series lecture focuses on First Amendment
The Department of Religious Studies at Loyola University New Orleans presents Barbra Barnett, Ph.D., visiting assistant professor of religious ethics, in a lecture, "The Amish Bernie Madoff vs. The First Amendment" on Tuesday, April 24 at 7 p.m. in Miller Hall, Room 114. A reception preceding the lecture will begin at 6:15 p.m.
Loyola announces Coadjutor Optimus Award recipients
Loyola University New Orleans Human Resources Coordinator Doris Newman, and Rich Wilson, senior academic counselor in the College of Humanities and Natural Sciences, were presented the Coadjutor Optimus Award on April 3 during Loyola's faculty and staff appreciation luncheon.
Global Business Association panel discussion explores business opportunities in Latin America
The Loyola University New Orleans chapter the of Global Business Association hosted its first annual panel discussion Thursday, April 19 on the topic "Business Environment and Culture in Latin America." The event was moderated by Jeffrey Krug, Ph.D., the Jack and Vada Reynolds Chair in International Business and GBA adviser.
