Loyola presents proceeds from relief concert to Catholic Charities
Donald R. Boomgaarden, Ph.D., dean of the College of Music and Fine Arts at Loyola, recently presented a check for $5,600 to Catholic Charities Archdiocese of New Orleans. The proceeds came from a benefit concert at Loyola by renowned pianist George Winston, who wished to assist Catholic Charities and the people of New Orleans in recovering from the BP/Deepwater Horizon oil spill.
Two Loyola law deans receive President's Medal
Loyola University New Orleans President Kevin Wm. Wildes, S.J., Ph.D., recognized two members of the College of Law community for their dedication and service to the university by presenting them with the President's Medal, one of the university's highest honors.
Music therapy students honored at regional conference
In April, undergraduate and graduate music therapy students along with Joy Allen, Ph.D., assistant professor of music therapy, represented Loyola University New Orleans at the southeast regional conference for the American Music Therapy Association held in Spartanburg, S.C.

Loyola professor of psychology, Janet R. Matthews Ph.D., received the 2011 Louisiana Psychological Association Distinguished Psychologist Award on June 20 for her achievements and contributions to the science and profession of psychology.
